Notes
Author's BioSharon Holt lives in the Waikato region of New Zealand. She worked as a teacher and journalist before remembering her childhood dream of becoming a children's author. Since that wake up call, her children's books have been published by many trade and educational publishers. After starting to learn te reo Maori in 2002, Sharon got the idea for Te Reo Singalong books. She was working as a relief teacher in kindergartens and primary schools at the time, and realised that most teachers in mainstream education lack confidence to use and teach the level of te reo that is expected of them as part of the NZ curriculum. She designed Te Reo Singalong books to make it easy and fun to teach and learn more sentence structures in te reo.
Additional Notes
This children's picture book is in te reo Maori. It includes a song CD. No prior knowledge of te reo Maori is required by the children or adults using the book. The story/song is about weather and clothing - i.e. The sun is shining. Where is my hat? The rain is falling. Where are my gumboots? By putting on the song CD and opening the book, the reader can join in with the song and follow the actions and sounds as they enjoy the book. The back of the book contains a pictorial glossary, English words for the song, guitar chords and a list of extension ideas for parents and teachers. The book is Book 3 in a series.my notes

NZ Review Lindsay Ray: Maori resources that work and are actually used are something that teachers are always looking for, and I think that these are the best! I love the language, and I love how my son knows so many words, partly due to these books. They really inspire me to keep talking to him in Maori as well, and they are so catchy that you find yourself randomly singing the songs. Also, I can see this tool being useful from the perspective of overseas teachers as I was born in California and began to learn Maori through waiata. Zaedyn has even been able to teach family overseas words by playing these songs.
